The Journey so far

Pressing toward the goal:"Working towards that day when I will finally be all that Christ Jesus saved me for and wants me to be" Philippians 4:12 (NLT).

On the 11th March 2008, Vince and I celebrated our 8th year of togetherness, curled up in each other's arms on the sofa.  We watched a few dvds and reflected on the years gone by.

The journey so far can only be described as an experience. It has been eight years of struggles which brought growth.  Trials we've endured, have brought us closer together as a unit, and though heartaches have come, they have also vanished.  We now have the assurance that, should they ever come again, they will only last for a season and will surely pass.  But because we have endured, we are more equipped to deal with what's to come.  We understand that preparation is key and so our time with God should keep increasing, so that our knowledge will follow in line.

We have learned to look deep within and find the cause of the problem: that lingering 'issue' that caused the reaction, and then squash it from the root.  This has brought great results and things that once caused pain, we can now smile about, as we tackle the root of the problem, knowing that God is in control.  We have learned that, without God being in control of all aspects of our lives, we will labour in vain.  Through this we are learning as a couple to lean and depend on Jesus.  In so doing we can see miracles on a daily basis in our marriage and our parenting.  These two elements work hand in hand and we are enjoying the growth process.

From this experience my writing has developed around the family network, in the hope that our experience can help others to grow and in some cases avoid the pitfalls we weren't aware of.  Too many marriages are failing for lack of knowledge, and I pray that God will use my writing to reach some of these couples so they can know that divorce is not the solution and that they can truly experience life in abundance--Just the way God intended it to be.
