Testimony 6

Testimony 6:

JESUS IS MY FRIEND

By Janice S Ramkissoon

As I went through my struggles, I found that there were areas too delicate to share with anyone.  It became a very lonely road for me, especially going through my marital and spiritual struggles.  Daily, my tears would greet my cheeks and the pain I felt in my heart grew stronger.

There came a point when I felt I could not bear the pain any longer, so I asked God to reveal to me my true friends.  God revealed two friends to me but they were both overseas.  At the time, they were very instrumental in helping me stay focused through a process of grieving, regarding the search for my dad.  It was important to have people in my life at that time, who knew some of what I was going through, and could intercede on my behalf because the deeper I dug the more pain I was confronted with.  I also found it extremely difficult praying during that time.

Later, God revealed to me someone who lived local to me. I could speak freely to her in sharing my struggles.  It felt as if we knew each other all our lives.  She and her family have been instrumental in the process of healing which is currently taking place.

I don’t feel so lonely anymore and when that feeling returns, I just count my blessings and give thanks for Jesus.  Jesus is the only one I can depend on.  He answers prayers and He is always there for me.  He never lets me down.  My husband and I love each other but ‘the arm of flesh will fail you’.  God has provided friends I can trust, but they won’t always be there when I need them.  So, I really only have one friend—JESUS.  I have proven Him to be all I will ever need.  With Jesus as my friend, I know I will have all that I need for the journey I am on, for He is the one who intercedes for me.

When I talk to God He speaks to me through various forms, including my writing.  The poem below is one of the ways God chose to speak to me while I was going through my time of grieving.  Having received my healing for this part of the journey, this poem means more to me now, and I hope that it will minister to you as you read it.

I AM YOUR GOD
By: Janice Ramkissoon

I am your God, talk to Me;
Tell Me how you feel about me.
Run to Me, I’ll give you all you need.
I am the supplier of all your needs.

I’m only a prayer away,
There’s no need to wait.
I’m always ready to embrace,
To dry the tears from your face.

I promised never to leave you,
Nor forsake you.
Do you not believe My Word?
Whatever you need I’ll provide for you

Come with your confession,
I am your forgiver.
Come with your sorrow,
I am your comforter.

Come with your sickness:
All your hurt and your pain,
I am your Healer.
Come with your fears
I am your Protector.

I know of your weakness,
But in Me you’ll find strength.
I know you are lonely,
Come to Me, I am your friend.

Bring Me your worship,
I am your God.
I will Shepherd you,
Defend you from the evil one.
Your praise belongs to Me.
I am your God
I will deliver you.
