Testimony 4:

GOD DELIVERED OUR MARRIAGE

FROM THE CLAWS OF THE ENEMY.

"Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder." Mathew 19:6, KJV
(Read Matthew 19: 5-7 for full context)

On both sides of our extended family, my husband and I have witnessed the breakdown of the family network: divorces, temporary and long-term separation…single parenting etc. and the ones we are aware of, have all stemmed from adultery.

I remembered praying to God where the provision of my husband was concerned.  He answered my prayer and I was grateful and satisfied.  I could not stop singing His praises but in doing that I angered the enemy. The enemy tried to use this generational curse as the vehicle through which he would attempt to rob me of my blessings.  But I knew that wasn’t God’s desire for our marriage, so when our marriage was breaking and the enemy was laughing; I cried out to God for direction.  He opened my eyes to see that which was hidden and He directed me.  I was obedient to His instructions and He delivered our marriage from the hands of the enemy. “The Lord is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear Him” (Psalm 103:13).

The enemy is angry because he lost this battle.  We know that he will keep trying to break our marriage so we had to determine in our hearts to grow spiritually, otherwise our marriage would die.  It took hard work to rebuild trust, but we worked in union with the Holy Spirit to mend the broken pieces and take away the hurt and pain.  Every crack was sealed and our unity restored.  I proved that nothing is impossible for my God to do but I wouldn’t have had that experience, had I not learned to trust Him [leaning and depending on Him for daily strength and guidance].  I give God thanks for sustaining our marriage.

My encouragement today is that if you want God to deliver you from whatever situation you are going through, you have to first submit to Him.  Follow His instructions and allow Him to do whatever it is He needs to do, in your life, to bring you into His will.  Obedience is the key, for if you do not follow His instructions you will never break the cycle.  And so you will never experience the joy that freedom in Christ brings.  In our experience we found that the closer we get to God, the closer we get to each other.  So I encourage you to find time to commune with God and allow Him to bring you into His will so you can experience life in abundance according to St. John 10:10.   There is life after the pain and hurt that often comes our way.  And it’s the tests that we go through that allows us to discover who we are in Christ and what we can be.  Surrender today and allow God to breathe new life into you and start to live again.

"And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?

Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.

They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?"
