Contagious Christians

A Sermon:
CONTAGIOUS CHRISTIANS
By L. Miller

2 Peter 1:13-20

Peter, an Apostle of the Lord Jesus, declares that he has a responsibility to ensure that the word of God is preached as long as he lives.  As a matter of fact, he wants to ensure that believers hear it so often that his actual expression was “as long as I live in this tent of this body I will refresh your memory of the word of God" (N.I.V.). Peter used the term tent to signify the temporary status of the physical body, and that one day this body will be put aside for a more glorious one, when we walk according to the will of the Lord.

In verse 14 of the text, Peter made it clear to his audience that he was about to die because of the revelation that he had received from our lord Jesus Christ. Peter’s usage of the term tent is fitting for this occasion. Peter had actually paraphrased Paul’s statement that even when the flesh is dying the Christian has a responsibility to keep the spirit man alive. Believers, I exhort you to live lives that is worthy of the name Jesus Christ.  Believers! It is time to change our attitude toward God’s work.
