As I Go Through Life

As I go Through Life Searching…

By Janice S. Ramkissoon

As I go through life, I search for that which represents love.  But I found that nothing was satisfying until I met and got to know Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

Searching for love

There were traces of love in relationships: friends, relatives, church folks and associates.  Whenever I see these nuggets of love I would crave more.  But the source was not there for me.  I grew up with my grandparents who were only meant to love as grandparents, though I craved that parental love.  God-parents, Aunts and Uncles, parents of friends and even elders in the church extended themselves but they were sources of love, on loan to me, for they belonged to other families.  Although I could see evidence of this love in others, I could not embrace it.  So I find that I always turn away empty, and needing a fill.

Reality Check!

At this point on my journey I was overcome by sorrow.  Loneliness sat beside me.  Tears became my comfort, as I slowly drifted from reality.  Then suddenly! Reality check! “That which you crave is only temporal.

A mother and father may still leave a child and they’ll only have memories (whether good or bad).

Siblings and friends have their own lives to live and the love they share with you will soon be split into various directions.”

On my journey, my friends are part of my family.  They are precious gifts from above. They’ll pray with and for me.  They provide a shoulder to cry on.  God uses them to supply some of my needs.  But the love of my friends just cannot compare to the love I’ve found in God’s only Son.

My Discovery

I discovered that Jesus died to free me from my sins (St. John 3:16). His death frees me from the curse that was placed on me when Adam and Eve disobeyed God (Genesis 3).  That means I am free from the pain of past hurt.  He took my shame.  He bore the pain.  Every past mistake has been erased. Every shackle has been broken, and through Jesus Christ I have the victory (Rom 8:37). The love of Christ embraced me and I am in awe.  Love reconnected me to my heavenly Father, and that’s when I realised my purpose here on earth: to worship Him.

I Search No More:

Instead of searching for love, the love He pours into me is poured out on those connected to me.  His love is daily renewed in me and so I am always ready to give, that which I once craved.

Receive The Father’s Love:

If you are searching for love, like I once did, won’t you get to know Jesus Christ, the source of love?  He’s our Saviour and our King.  As we remember His death and resurrection, why not receive His love, and crave no more?  His love is true, pure, empowering, unconditional and everlasting.  His love is life.  Accept Him today and receive everlasting life.  God bless you on your journey.

Song:  No Greater Love

Verse 1:

No greater love has man ever shared,

Than Love which comes from above.

No mother’s love can ever compare.

No father’s love is the same.

Chorus:

No greater love.

No greater love.

No greater love ever known.

[Repeat]

Verse 2:

A sibling’s love is just not the same!

They’ll be missed when they go away,

But their love just can’t compare,

No! It cannot compare.

Repeat Chorus:
