A Mother's Touch

A Mother's Touch
By Janice Ramkissoon

A Mother who is still a child

How does she really feel inside?

A Mother who is still in search of love
From where does her compassion come?

And the child that needs a loving hug
Will she ever be able to give a cuddly snug?

A Mother who has been, at some point, abused
Will she always feel worthless and used?

A Mother who has been refused?
Will depression keep her confused?

A Mother who has never been embraced
How will she, for her child, care?

Will she know how to love that child?
How will she, with compassion aside?

And the child she carries in her womb
Will that child to a loveless-life be doomed?

A Mother who is afraid to let go of the past
Will she ever learn to give love a chance?

A Mother who brings up a child with resentment inside
Will that child not grow up, paying the price?

With her years of torment, making her child a subject to abuse
Is she not sentencing her child to be emotionally confused?

From the womb to the tomb
Will that child experience a loveless-life too?

You could be the one to break the chain
Will you be brave to stop casting the blame?

If a Mother who didn't receive love didn't show love
Then chances are, to show love, she just didn't know how

To 'love'is a choice, make the choice to love today
For when you give love, it comes right back to you

A Mother who is too busy, living a lie
Will she ever find time to invite Christ in her life?

Loving is easy when in your heart Christ resides
To love or to hate that is your choice and only you can decide
